ABOUT
This is the story of how jesusasreality.org ulimately became a reality:
Over a year ago, several people started to think about putting together a web site for student ministries at First Evangelical Free Church. It happened! That's our story... O.k. there is a little more than that. Since the beginning days of development, it was thought that we needed to create something that was easy to use, resouceful, and something that didn't feel churchy. After many discussions it was decided that the site name would be called jesusasreality.org. This was based on the conviction that this site should be used as a way to challenge people to think of Jesus as more than a mere option, but a reality or the way things are! A secondary conviction was to expose people to our student ministry community to by giving them access to what we are about and how they could get connected. These were the foundational steps in creating the site. I can still remember scribbling notes on a little piece of paper with youth worker Andy Lamb as we day dreamed about this site and eating pancakes and bacon. Thanks for breakfast Andy!
Well, a year had nearly passed by with seemingly little-to-no activity taking place on the site. I guess you could say that the conceptual design ideas and site framework were brewing. In mid-May and early June of 2005, activity increased ten-fold while my dear friend Zach Conrad of Rift Design Studio began enterning hours, upon hours upon hours, of code and content. It was amazing seeing everything come together all at once. The end result was a site that was everything that we wanted and more.
Ultimately, I hope that this site challenges people to consider Jesus as a reality in their lives by acknowledging Him as truth and living for Him every moment. I also desire that this site would keep you informed about what is happening in the student community of First Evangelical Free Church. May you be blessed as you enjoy jesusasreality.org!
